MARK HAMBLY

SPECIALIST LEADER

OF

MUSIC EDUCATION

Showing the desire and hunger to be a musician from an early age I quickly realised the direction and journey that my life was going to take. Having completed school and then achieving a BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship, where I had fantastic opportunities to perform with musicians from many different chart topping groups, I joined Her Majesty's Royal Marines Band Service.  It was here that I confirmed my positive communication skills, clear and logical mind and ability to work successfully as an individual and as a member of a team whilst seeing all tasks through to completion.

With the recognition of my desire to teach I followed a salaried School Direct programme immersing myself within KS1 and KS2 teams, the schools and the wider communities confirming my motivated, determined, adaptable and responsible approach. University staff and my mentor awarded a final grading of Outstanding.  As an NQT I had full responsibility for teaching all of the core subjects as well as teaching music across the school.  I have recently become an SLE (Specialist Leader of Education within Music) allowing learning to be shared and delivered across all ages and stages of education.

I continue to be responsible for the school choir’s participation in Songfest and as part of  UN’s ‘Global Goals’  I wrote the song ‘Zero Hunger’ for Year 3 to perform and be recorded by a professional sound engineer (this was used on the UN's website).  The experience was unique; the value of which cannot be underestimated.  I have since written an anthem for the school which reminds the children of the schools values and beliefs.  I recently was asked to take 70 children to sing at the opening  ceremony of the Cornwall School Games.  The song that was entitled 'The Values of the Games' which was written by myself in response to their cultural offer to schools.

MH Music Pro is currently working in 3 Cornish Schools delivering Music curriculum to KS1 and KS2, peripatetic drum lessons and after school music clubs.  MH Music Pro is also responsible for delivering Music CPD to school staff (INSET), School Direct and PGCE students studying at the University of St Mark and St John.
